Lead Teacher/Facilitator, K – 2nd
We are looking for an innovative educator that desires an authentic learning environment focused on the interests of young people. Our educators are passionate about learning and want the freedom to truly help guide young people to become life-long learners. Applicants should be observant and capable of creatively inspiring young people to engage in their environment and community in fun and purposeful ways.
Core Responsibilities
- Contribute to and support learner growth and development
- Designing, planning, and orchestrating a learning environment for around 16 learners in a mixed-age K-2nd grade classroom, using a self-directed approach, where students learn at their pace using different tools based on their needs and learning styles.
- Facilitate differentiated and personalized learning goals and activities based on learners’ interests and requests, while using Florida’s BEST standards to document and communicate growth and development.
- Maintain a growth mindset toward both learner’s and personal professional development
- Demonstrate a high degree of self-efficacy; work efficiently, and belief in your own ability and the capability of the learners to learn and grow
- Facilitate problem-solving, with a curious mind and critical thinking skills, showing a high degree of creative application in the implementation of engaging play and learning opportunities
- Serve as a role model and an innovative and creative learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge and personal growth
- Collaborate effectively to enrich the learning environment
- Invest in the learners’ well-being, health, and safety, physically, socially, and emotionally
- Value the importance of play and curiosity and trust young people to learn in unique ways
- Support social-emotional learning and self-regulation through the modeling of kindness, respect, and patience
- Willingness to learn and practice Non-Violent Communication in the classroom as a form of conflict resolution
- Assessing, documenting, and communicating effectively about learner growth and development to administrators and families
- Attention to detail and thoroughness to maintain a clean and organized learning environment and assist in closing and opening the school
Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- A passion for working with students in this age group
- Knowledge or the willingness to learn self-directed learning methods
- Desire and ability to work in a mixed-age learning environment
- High emotional intelligence and sensitivity to organizational dynamics coupled with outstanding organization and interpersonal skills
- Working familiarity with assistive technologies; internet and email systems; and word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to eagerly assume many roles as a consummate team player in a small school environment
- Familiarity with computers (PC and Apple) and their use to enhance learning
- Preference will be given to licensed teachers. Consideration will also be given to those that do not possess a teaching license but have a Bachelor’s degree and have attained special skills, knowledge or expertise that qualifies them to provide instruction in K-12th grade subjects in conjunction with 2+ years’ experience working with youth. Experience working in alternative education, Montessori, Waldorf, etc. would be considered an asset but is not required.

Work days/hours are onsite Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Pay range is $30 – $35 per hour DOE. Background check/fingerprinting will be required.
